Training Your Employees To Use iTRAKjava
In most cases, iTRAKjava will be programmed to start automatically when the phone is powered up. And in most cases, it will also be locked to eliminate any employee tampering issues. Therefore, the only training pertaining to the handset involves teaching your employees how to ensure that iTRAKjava is running.
We highly recommend that you are upfront with your employees about tracking their whereabouts. If you are not upfront with them, you may lose credibility and trust with them when they find out –and they likely will eventually. The fact that you are tracking them is positive for them, as anything that helps your company increase efficiency and customer service or safety, is ultimately good for the employees.
Although iTRAKjava will start automatically, it is possible for the employee to shut it down accidentally or intentionally. This is not an iTRAKjava issue –it is just the way the handset was designed. If they are taught how to make sure it is running, then it will eliminate these scenarios “I didn’t know it was not running” –or “I had no idea that I accidentally turned it off.”
When iTRAKjava starts automatically, it either displays the main iTRAKjava screen or the App Code screen, depending on whether you have locked it or not. In either case, pressing the Red phone hang-up key twice will suspend it into the background. Suspending does not mean that it is not running –it simply means that it is running in the background –but not displayed on your screen.
To shut iTRAKjava down completely, press the Red hang up key once only –then press the left softkey that says End or End Now. Teach your employees how to shut it down completely –that way, they will not be able to say they did so by mistake. When iTRAKjava is shut down, it will send an “App Power Down” message to the tracking system and you will be able to see exactly where and when it was shut down.
In the early stages of implementing your system, make note of any App Power Down messages –so that you can address them with the employee. If an employee turns off the java application while working, without any consequence from management, they may continue to do so and your system may not produce the dividends that otherwise would.
How does the employee start iTRAKjava if it has been shut down? Be sure and program a shortcut key for iTRAKjava. Press the main phone menu button, scroll to settings, press Ok, then scroll to personalize and press OK, scroll down to right key and press OK. Now, scroll all the way down to iTRAKjava and press OK. Now, press the red hang up key to go back to the main screen. Pressing the right arrow key will now take you directly to iTRAKjava. If it is not running, it will start. If it was suspended, it will resume.
Remember, it is critical to the efficient running of this application that your employees are aware they need to press the red hang-up key twice after iTRAKjava starts.
