Fleet.NET™ Vehicle Maintenance Monitoring Module

Vehicle Maintenance Monitoring SoftwareFleet.NET™, a comprehensive GPS vehicle tracking solution is available with an optional Vehicle Maintenance Module that helps fleet operators keep track of preventative maintenance schedules and expenses. With Fleet.NET’s maintenance option, fleet operators can establish completely independent maintenance schedules for each type of vehicle in their fleet.

In order to use the maintenance module, each vehicle in your fleet would be equipped with a CommVision2020 GPS device. The C2020 or the PC-AT sends the vehicle’s location and other vehicle information to the Fleet.NET mapping server. Each C2020 is programmed with the actual mileage of the vehicle it is installed into. The key to maintaining accurate maintenance schedules is the ability of the C2020 to keep track of both engine hours and accurate vehicle miles traveled. While most GPS black boxes send mileage information to a mapping system, the C2020 has a unique capability to calculate mileage on a much more accurate basis. For example, even though the unit may only be sending the vehicle location every minute or every mile, (or whatever interval it is programmed into it) the Comm 2020 actually calculates vehicle mileage every few seconds and sends mileage correction information to Fleet.NET.

Preventative maintenance schedules are set up in Fleet.NET for each classification of vehicle. You may set up as many general classifications as you like and then assign each of your vehicles to their appropriate classification. For example, if you have some delivery vans, some 5 ton trucks and some tractor trailer units, each of these general classifications could have completely different preventative maintenance schedules.

Once the general classifications are established and each vehicle has been assigned to one classification, you will then establish your preventative maintenance schedules. For example, oil changes, lubes, tire rotates, brake pads, tire replacement, transmission fluid changes and any other classification you require can be set up, with whatever interval you like. For example, your vans could require an oil change every 3000 miles or 3 months, while your tractor trailers could require an oil change every 500 engine hours or 2 months, etc.

With the schedules now established, Fleet.NET not only reminds you when maintenance is due, but also keeps track of individual maintenance expenses per vehicle. The C2020’s ability to track both engine hours and vehicle mileage means that any maintenance schedule can be cased on mileage, engine hours or calendar days. A number of reports are available to indicate when maintenance is due, depict vehicle maintenance history, track vehicle/driver assignments and vehicle expenses.
