MidLink™ was designed to make the integration of an existing application to the CommVision™, C2020™, and PhoneLink™ devices swift and simple. The figure below describes how easily an application can integrate these wireless terminals.

The interface of the application to MidLink™ is unaffected by the wireless network being used. An application using iDEN will work with MidLink™ in the same way as an application using GPRS or CDMA.

MidLink™ provides the host application with a high level interface, allowing easy sending and receiving of messages and control information. The application does not have to handle transport, network and lower levels of communications. The functionality of all layers below the application layer is built right into MidLink™.

MidLink™ also provides significant features that are a must-have for mobile force management. These features allow real time monitoring of the mobile units providing the control center a better control over the mobile units in the field. In order to easily make the use of these features, MidLink™ defines several fixed format messages.

This allows the ability to add two-way messaging/wireless dispatch to your existing third party fleet management application, without the cost of purchasing a complete new fleet management solution. MidLink™ creates a constant communication link between the office and mobile employees. All company personnel can communicate via one integrated network, regardless of the particular operation being used (Internal Mail, Mobile Mail, Paging, etc.).

MidLink™ provides for the automatic transfer of messages from your internal mail systems to your mobile terminal while a user is out of the office. All new messages are instantaneously shifted from your office system so that the user will be able to maintain all communications while traveling.
