TranWare Successfully Deployed Over Virtual Server

As with many of our TranWare clients, Dulles Airport Taxi has a requirement to access their TranWare Enterprise system from multiple locations. While Call-Taking for their 220 vehicle TranAir™ fleet takes place at their dispatch office, Dulles airport based staff needed simultaneous access from two airport locations at the same time.
Dulles Airport Taxi IT staff, headed by Mark Shultz, President of Special Systems, Inc. chose to use the latest Microsoft virtualization technology, which allows users from multiple locations to share the same TranWare screens in real time. Working with Future Quest Wireless Inc., the supplier of their TranWare system, the 7 workstation TranWare system was deployed entirely over Virtual Server.
Using a remote desktop session (terminal client) is one method that is widely used, however it does not permit more than one user to see the same screens at the same time. With Microsoft Virtual Server, dispatchers, call-takers and managers can all see the AutoDisp, (Automatic Dispatch Module) TranTrac (Vehicle Tracking Module) and TranCard (Credit Card Module) modules at the same time, providing a tremendous advantage to dispatch center and airport staff to make more informed decisions. In addition, system performance is enhanced, as all network traffic is really taking place on the server itself.
As a result of the success of the Dulles system, Future Quest subsequently deployed Virtual Server on All-Star Cab Dispatch’s 100 vehicle TranAir fleet in the Chicago area, allowing dispatch and administration staff to work from their respective homes.
